As the battle raged at Kansas University, a quiet girl approached me. "Hi" she said. I had come back to the cart to put away the camera and said I'd be with her in a minute. "Hi I'm Kirsten." I introduced myself. "I'm Rowan." She felt bad for how the other students were treating us and was sympathetic of us.
We moved over to a bench to get away from the chaos. I asked about her life and her faith. Her father was Catholic, but there wasn't much religion in her home. I could tell that she was seeking God. I asked her "What is stopping you from becoming a Christian?" She worried about what her friends would think.
I told her about what it is like to be a Christian, how God is your best friend and how to become a Christian. She seemed hesitant, but within the hesitance was a longing. I thought that she might be ready, so I asked "Do you want to become a Christian today, like right now?" She replied "Sure. Yes." She was ready. So I told her how to pray, to tell God how she had sinned and for Him to free her from sin and be the Lord of her life. Then she prayed. It was one of the most exciting moments in my life. I gave her a Bible, and her name means "tree" so Sister Cindy and showed her Psalm 1:
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
And Jeremiah 17:7-8 "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."
Then I connected her with a girl I know who is involved in a campus ministry there.

I would like to thank you for coming to the University of Kansas to spread the Holy Word of God. I see unfaithful people every day and I too can see the downfall of our country and world. So I would like to thank you for coming and let you know there was a huge number of listeners among the wild crowd of “free loving” liberals. I wish you the best of luck throughout your journeys the rest of the year and God bless.
