But I will keep my covenant with your son Isaac, who will be born to Sarah about this time next year."

The LORD blessed Sarah, as he had promised,

and she became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham when he was old. The boy was born at the time God had said he would be born.

The people who once were well fed now hire themselves out to get food, but the hungry are hungry no more. The childless wife has borne seven children, but the mother of many is left with none.

Following the LORD's command, the prophet denounced the altar: "O altar, altar, this is what the LORD says: A child, whose name will be Josiah, will be born to the family of David. He will slaughter on you the priests serving at the pagan altars who offer sacrifices on you, and he will burn human bones on you."

and Elisha said to her, "By this time next year you will be holding a son in your arms." "Oh!" she exclaimed. "Please, sir, don't lie to me. You are a man of God!"

He honors the childless wife in her home; he makes her happy by giving her children. Praise the LORD!

Jerusalem, you have been like a childless woman, but now you can sing and shout for joy. Now you will have more children than a woman whose husband never left her.

But the angel said to him, "Don't be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son. You are to name him John.

But you have not believed my message, which will come true at the right time. Because you have not believed, you will be unable to speak; you will remain silent until the day my promise to you comes true."

Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old.

When a woman is about to give birth, she is sad because her hour of suffering has come; but when the baby is born, she forgets her suffering, because she is happy that a baby has been born into the world.

"When the time drew near for God to keep the promise he had made to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt had grown much larger.

It was at this time that Moses was born, a very beautiful child. He was cared for at home for three months,

But when the right time finally came, God sent his own Son. He came as the son of a human mother and lived under the Jewish Law,

When the time drew near for him to die, he called for his son Joseph and said to him, "Place your hand between my thighs and make a solemn vow that you will not bury me in Egypt.

"Aaron is not going to enter the land which I promised to give to Israel; he is going to die, because the two of you rebelled against my command at Meribah.

and there remove Aaron's priestly robes and put them on Eleazar. Aaron is going to die there."

and Moses removed Aaron's priestly robes and put them on Eleazar. There on the top of the mountain Aaron died, and Moses and Eleazar came back down.

The LORD said to Moses, "Go up the Abarim Mountains and look out over the land that I am giving to the Israelites.

because both of you rebelled against my command in the wilderness of Zin. When the whole community complained against me at Meribah, you refused to acknowledge my holy power before them." (Meribah is the spring at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

"At that time I earnestly prayed,

Let me cross the Jordan River, LORD, and see the fertile land on the other side, the beautiful hill country and the Lebanon Mountains.'

So Moses, the LORD's servant, died there in the land of Moab, as the LORD had said he would.

Human life is like forced army service, like a life of hard manual labor,

The length of our lives is decided beforehand--- the number of months we will live. You have settled it, and it can't be changed.

If a man dies, can he come back to life? But I will wait for better times, wait till this time of trouble is ended.

About this time King Hezekiah became sick and almost died. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to see him and said to him, "The LORD tells you that you are to put everything in order because you will not recover. Get ready to die."

to go back to Hezekiah and say to him, "I, the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will let you live fifteen years longer.

Then they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

Everyone must die once, and after that be judged by God.

So God will ruin you forever; he will take hold of you and snatch you from your home; he will remove you from the world of the living.

He dug the soil and cleared it of stones; he planted the finest vines. He built a tower to guard them, dug a pit for treading the grapes. He waited for the grapes to ripen, but every grape was sour.

Is there anything I failed to do for it? Then why did it produce sour grapes and not the good grapes I expected?

Today I give you authority over nations and kingdoms to uproot and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant."

If at any time I say that I am going to uproot, break down, or destroy any nation or kingdom,

On the other hand, if I say that I am going to plant or build up any nation or kingdom,

"But I, the LORD, am tearing down what I have built and pulling up what I have planted. I will do this to the entire earth.

'It was some enemy who did this,' he answered. 'Do you want us to go and pull up the weeds?' they asked him.

'No,' he answered, 'because as you gather the weeds you might pull up some of the wheat along with them.

the Son of Man will send out his angels to gather up out of his Kingdom all those who cause people to sin and all others who do evil things,

"Every plant which my Father in heaven did not plant will be pulled up," answered Jesus.
