So the LORD changed his mind and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

God is not like people, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever he promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done.

The LORD will rescue his people when he sees that their strength is gone. He will have mercy on those who serve him, when he sees how helpless they are.

"I am sorry that I made Saul king; he has turned away from me and disobeyed my commands." Samuel was angry, and all night long he pleaded with the LORD.

Israel's majestic God does not lie or change his mind. He is not a human being---he does not change his mind."

When the LORD's angel was about to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD changed his mind about punishing the people and said to the angel who was killing them, "Stop! That's enough!" The angel was by the threshing place of Araunah, a Jebusite.

For their sake he remembered his covenant, and because of his great love he relented.

The LORD made a solemn promise and will not take it back: "You will be a priest forever in the priestly order of Melchizedek."

but then that nation turns from its evil, I will not do what I said I would.

but then that nation disobeys me and does evil, I will not do what I said I would.

King Hezekiah and the people of Judah did not put Micah to death. Instead, Hezekiah honored the LORD and tried to win his favor. And the LORD changed his mind about the disaster that he said he would bring on them. Now we are about to bring a terrible disaster on ourselves."

"How can I give you up, Israel? How can I abandon you? Could I ever destroy you as I did Admah, or treat you as I did Zeboiim? My heart will not let me do it! My love for you is too strong.

God saw what they did; he saw that they had given up their wicked behavior. So he changed his mind and did not punish them as he had said he would.

"I am the LORD, and I do not change. And so you, the descendants of Jacob, are not yet completely lost.

For God does not change his mind about whom he chooses and blesses.

To those who were to receive what he promised, God wanted to make it very clear that he would never change his purpose; so he added his vow to the promise.

There are these two things, then, that cannot change and about which God cannot lie. So we who have found safety with him are greatly encouraged to hold firmly to the hope placed before us.

Every good gift and every perfect present comes from heaven; it comes down from God, the Creator of the heavenly lights, who does not change or cause darkness by turning.

If only they would always feel this way! If only they would always honor me and obey all my commands, so that everything would go well with them and their descendants forever.

They fail to see why they were defeated; they cannot understand what happened.

How often they rebelled against him in the desert; how many times they made him sad!

How I wish my people would listen to me; how I wish they would obey me!

For forty years I was disgusted with those people. I said, 'How disloyal they are! They refuse to obey my commands.'

When I look at those traitors, I am filled with disgust, because they do not keep your commands.

"If only you had listened to my commands! Then blessings would have flowed for you like a stream that never goes dry. Victory would have come to you like the waves that roll on the shore.

but they rebelled against him and made his holy spirit sad. So the LORD became their enemy and fought against them.

Tell them that as surely as I, the Sovereign LORD, am the living God, I do not enjoy seeing sinners die. I would rather see them stop sinning and live. Israel, stop the evil you are doing. Why do you want to die?

He came closer to the city, and when he saw it, he wept over it,

saying, "If you only knew today what is needed for peace! But now you cannot see it!

And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will come when God will set you free.

And so I was angry with those people and said, 'They are always disloyal and refuse to obey my commands.'

With whom was God angry for forty years? With the people who sinned, who fell down dead in the desert.
