Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the presence of all the people of Israel, "Be determined and confident; you are the one who will lead these people to occupy the land that the LORD promised to their ancestors.

Then the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun and told him, "Be confident and determined. You will lead the people of Israel into the land that I promised them, and I will be with you."

The LORD your God is going with you, and he will give you victory.'

Be determined and confident, for you will be the leader of these people as they occupy this land which I promised their ancestors.

Just be determined, be confident; and make sure that you obey the whole Law that my servant Moses gave you. Do not neglect any part of it and you will succeed wherever you go.

Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the LORD your God, am with you wherever you go."

Then Joshua said to his officers, "Don't be afraid or discouraged. Be determined and confident because this is what the LORD is going to do to all your enemies."

If you obey all the laws which the LORD gave to Moses for Israel, you will be successful. Be determined and confident, and don't let anything make you afraid.

You must realize that the LORD has chosen you to build his holy Temple. Now do it---and do it with determination."

King David said to his son Solomon, "Be confident and determined. Start the work and don't let anything stop you. The LORD God, whom I serve, will be with you. He will not abandon you, but he will stay with you until you finish the work to be done on his Temple.

"Be determined and confident, and don't be afraid of the Assyrian emperor or of the army he is leading. We have more power on our side than he has on his.

Trust in the LORD. Have faith, do not despair. Trust in the LORD.

Israel, the LORD who created you says, "Do not be afraid---I will save you. I have called you by name---you are mine.

For I am the LORD your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. I will give up Egypt to set you free; I will give up Ethiopia and Seba.

Do not be afraid---I am with you! "From the distant east and the farthest west I will bring your people home.

But now don't be discouraged, any of you. Do the work, for I am with you.

People of Judah and Israel! In the past foreigners have cursed one another by saying, 'May the same disasters fall on you that fell on Judah and Israel!' But I will save you, and then those foreigners will say to one another, 'May you receive the same blessings that came to Judah and Israel!' So have courage and don't be afraid."

Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave, be strong.

Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power.

As for you, my son, be strong through the grace that is ours in union with Christ Jesus.

"But I told you, 'Don't be afraid of those people.

Do not be afraid of them; remember what the LORD your God did to the king of Egypt and to all his people.

"When you go out to fight against your enemies and you see chariots and horses and an army that outnumbers yours, do not be afraid of them. The LORD your God, who rescued you from Egypt, will be with you.

'Men of Israel, listen! Today you are going into battle. Do not be afraid of your enemies or lose courage or panic.

The LORD your God is going with you, and he will give you victory.'

Do not rebel against the LORD and don't be afraid of the people who live there. We will conquer them easily. The LORD is with us and has defeated the gods who protected them; so don't be afraid."

The LORD is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The LORD protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid.

Do not be afraid---I am with you! I am your God---let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.

The LORD says, "I am the one who strengthens you. Why should you fear mortals, who are no more enduring than grass?

"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom.

But cowards, traitors, perverts, murderers, the immoral, those who practice magic, those who worship idols, and all liars---the place for them is the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

He is a merciful God. He will not abandon you or destroy you, and he will not forget the covenant that he himself made with your ancestors.

Joshua, no one will be able to defeat you as long as you live. I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will always be with you; I will never abandon you.

I will make you like a threshing board, with spikes that are new and sharp. You will thresh mountains and destroy them; hills will crumble into dust.

"When my people in their need look for water, when their throats are dry with thirst, then I, the LORD, will answer their prayer; I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them.

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never leave you; I will never abandon you."
