Perhaps I can make the people of my own race jealous, and so be able to save some of them.

And even though I am far away from you in body, still I am there with you in spirit; and as though I were there with you, I have in the name of our Lord Jesus already passed judgment on the man who has done this terrible thing. As you meet together, and I meet with you in my spirit, by the power of our Lord Jesus present with us,

you are to hand this man over to Satan for his body to be destroyed, so that his spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord.

For the sadness that is used by God brings a change of heart that leads to salvation---and there is no regret in that! But sadness that is merely human causes death.

So, even though I wrote that letter, it was not because of the one who did wrong or the one who was wronged. Instead, I wrote it to make plain to you, in God's sight, how deep your devotion to us really is.

Watch yourself and watch your teaching. Keep on doing these things, because if you do, you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

"I destroyed some of you as I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Those of you who survived were like a burning stick saved from a fire. Still you did not come back to me," says the LORD.

The angel of the LORD said to Satan, "May the LORD condemn you, Satan! May the LORD, who loves Jerusalem, condemn you. This man is like a stick snatched from the fire."

But if your work is burnt up, then you will lose it; but you yourself will be saved, as if you had escaped through the fire.

When there is mildew on clothing, whether wool or linen,

if it is greenish or reddish, it is a spreading mildew and must be shown to the priest.

He shall examine it again on the seventh day, and if the mildew has spread, the object is unclean.

But if, when he examines it, the priest finds that the mildew has not spread on the object,

Then he shall examine it, and if the mildew has not changed color, even though it has not spread, it is still unclean; you must burn the object, whether the rot is on the front or the back.

Then, if the mildew reappears, it is spreading again, and the owner shall burn the object.

This, then, is the law about mildew on clothing, whether it is wool or linen, or on linen or wool cloth or on anything made of leather; this is how the decision is made as to whether it is ritually clean or unclean.

Any who lie down or eat in the house must wash their clothes.

Anything made of cloth or leather on which the semen falls must be washed, and it remains unclean until evening.

All of us have been sinful; even our best actions are filthy through and through. Because of our sins we are like leaves that wither and are blown away by the wind.

Her leaders wandered through the streets as though blind, so stained with blood that no one would touch them.

Joshua was standing there, wearing filthy clothes.

He commanded the attendants to put a clean turban on Joshua's head. They did so, and then they put the new clothes on him while the angel of the LORD stood there.

In the letter that I wrote you I told you not to associate with immoral people.

What I meant was that you should not associate with a person who calls himself a believer but is immoral or greedy or worships idols or is a slanderer or a drunkard or a thief. Don't even sit down to eat with such a person.

Do not be fooled. "Bad companions ruin good character."

It may be that some there will not obey the message we send you in this letter. If so, take note of them and have nothing to do with them, so that they will be ashamed.

But a few of you there in Sardis have kept your clothes clean. You will walk with me, clothed in white, because you are worthy to do so.

I advise you, then, to buy gold from me, pure gold, in order to be rich. Buy also white clothing to dress yourself and cover up your shameful nakedness. Buy also some ointment to put on your eyes, so that you may see.
