I thank my God for you every time I think of you;

God is my witness that I tell the truth when I say that my deep feeling for you all comes from the heart of Christ Jesus himself.

So then, my friends, how dear you are to me and how I miss you! How happy you make me, and how proud I am of you!---this, dear friends, is how you should stand firm in your life in the Lord.

but when he got over Amnon's death, he was filled with longing for his son Absalom.

For I want very much to see you, in order to share a spiritual blessing with you to make you strong.

And so with deep affection they will pray for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown you.

If I smile and try to forget my pain, all my suffering comes back to haunt me; I know that God does hold me guilty.

Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I had hoped for sympathy, but there was none; for comfort, but I found none.

Worry can rob you of happiness, but kind words will cheer you up.

To give to those who mourn in Zion Joy and gladness instead of grief, A song of praise instead of sorrow. They will be like trees That the LORD himself has planted. They will all do what is right, And God will be praised for what he has done.

"Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee. Grief and anguish came over him,

when I say how great is my sorrow, how endless the pain in my heart

Be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer.

David saw the angel who was killing the people, and said to the LORD, "I am the guilty one. I am the one who did wrong. What have these poor people done? You should punish me and my family."

Jesus wept.

"See how much he loved him!" the people said.

But he answered, "What are you doing, crying like this and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be tied up in Jerusalem but even to die there for the sake of the Lord Jesus."

Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep.

If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer with it; if one part is praised, all the other parts share its happiness.

Help carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.

I beg you, then, not to be discouraged because I am suffering for you; it is all for your benefit.
