"Follow me," Jesus answered, "and let the dead bury their own dead."

Jesus left that place, and as he walked along, he saw a tax collector, named Matthew, sitting in his office. He said to him, "Follow me." Matthew got up and followed him.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If any of you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me.

Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; then come and follow me."

As he walked along, he saw a tax collector, Levi son of Alphaeus, sitting in his office. Jesus said to him, "Follow me." Levi got up and followed him.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting in his office. Jesus said to him, "Follow me."

He said to another man, "Follow me." But that man said, "Sir, first let me go back and bury my father."

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Come with me!"

Whoever wants to serve me must follow me, so that my servant will be with me where I am. And my Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Jesus answered him, "If I want him to live until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!"

Wherever the stream flows, there will be all kinds of animals and fish. The stream will make the water of the Dead Sea fresh, and wherever it flows, it will bring life.

From the Springs of Engedi all the way to the Springs of Eneglaim, there will be fishermen on the shore of the sea, and they will spread out their nets there to dry. There will be as many different kinds of fish there as there are in the Mediterranean Sea.

Jesus said to them, "Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people."

At once they left their nets and went with him.

The same was true of Simon's partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will be catching people."

They pulled the boats up on the beach, left everything, and followed Jesus.

While working with the Jews, I live like a Jew in order to win them; and even though I myself am not subject to the Law of Moses, I live as though I were when working with those who are, in order to win them.

Among the weak in faith I become weak like one of them, in order to win them. So I become all things to all people, that I may save some of them by whatever means are possible.

You will agree, then, that I was not a burden to you. But someone will say that I was tricky, and trapped you with lies.
