And if some home or town will not welcome you or listen to you, then leave that place and shake the dust off your feet.

The apostles shook the dust off their feet in protest against them and went on to Iconium.

When they opposed him and said evil things about him, he protested by shaking the dust from his clothes and saying to them, "If you are lost, you yourselves must take the blame for it! I am not responsible. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel away from you today and given it to someone who is a better man than you.

Then he said to me, "On it is written the curse that is to go out over the whole land. On one side of the scroll it says that every thief will be removed from the land; and on the other side it says that everyone who tells lies under oath will also be taken away.

The LORD Almighty says that he will send this curse out, and it will enter the house of every thief and the house of everyone who tells lies under oath. It will remain in their houses and leave them in ruins."

May this water enter your stomach and cause it to swell up and your genital organs to shrink." The woman shall respond, "I agree; may the LORD do so."

The Levites will speak these words in a loud voice:

" 'God's curse on anyone who dishonors his father or mother.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who leads a blind person in the wrong direction.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who disgraces his father by having intercourse with any of his father's wives.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who has intercourse with his sister or half sister.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who secretly commits murder.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

" 'God's curse on anyone who does not obey all of God's laws and teachings.' "And all the people will answer, 'Amen!'

Praise the LORD, the God of Israel! Praise him now and forever! Then all the people said, "Amen," and praised the LORD.

He stood by the royal column and made a covenant with the LORD to obey him, to keep his laws and commands with all his heart and soul, and to put into practice the demands attached to the covenant, as written in the book. And all the people promised to keep the covenant.

Let the giving of thanks be your sacrifice to God, and give the Almighty all that you promised.

Give the LORD your God what you promised him; bring gifts to him, all you nearby nations. God makes everyone fear him;

I will keep my solemn promise to obey your just instructions.

Better not to promise at all than to make a promise and not keep it.
