I, the Lord, will bring the emperor of Assyria and all his forces to attack Judah. They will advance like the flood waters of the Euphrates River, overflowing all its banks.

They will sweep through Judah in a flood, rising shoulder high and covering everything." God is with us! His outspread wings protect the land.

He and his army and the many nations with him will attack like a storm and cover the land like a cloud."

You will attack my people Israel like a storm moving across the land. When the time comes, I will send you to invade my land in order to show the nations who I am, to show my holiness by what I do through you.

I am bringing the Babylonians to power, those fierce, restless people. They are marching out across the world to conquer other lands.

Early the next morning Elisha's servant got up, went out of the house, and saw the Syrian troops with their horses and chariots surrounding the town. He went back to Elisha and exclaimed, "We are doomed, sir! What shall we do?"

God will open the way for them and lead them out of exile. They will break out of the city gates and go free. Their king, the LORD himself, will lead them out.

Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it.

The time will come when your enemies will surround you with barricades, blockade you, and close in on you from every side.

"When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that it will soon be destroyed.

The LORD is great and is to be highly praised in the city of our God, on his sacred hill.

God has shown that there is safety with him inside the fortresses of the city.

Remember your people, whom you chose for yourself long ago, whom you brought out of slavery to be your own tribe. Remember Mount Zion, where once you lived.

Your enemies have shouted in triumph in your Temple; they have placed their flags there as signs of victory.

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which can never be shaken, never be moved.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, now and forever.

Let us, then, go to him outside the camp and share his shame.

If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and destroys their enemies; and in this way whoever tries to harm them will be killed.

This second beast performed great miracles; it made fire come down out of heaven to earth in the sight of everyone.

Suddenly the LORD rained burning sulfur on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah

So Moses raised his stick toward the sky, and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning struck the ground. The LORD sent

a heavy hailstorm, with lightning flashing back and forth. It was the worst storm that Egypt had ever known in all its history.

Suddenly the LORD sent fire, and it burned them to death there in the presence of the LORD.

Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD was speaking about when he said, 'All who serve me must respect my holiness; I will reveal my glory to my people.' " But Aaron remained silent.

The people began to complain to the LORD about their troubles. When the LORD heard them, he became angry and sent fire on the people. It burned among them and destroyed one end of the camp.

Then the LORD sent a fire that blazed out and burned up the 250 men who had presented the incense.

"If I am a man of God," Elijah answered, "may fire come down from heaven and kill you and your men!" At once fire came down and killed the officer and his men.

The two other officers and their men were killed by fire from heaven; but please be merciful to me!"

Fire goes in front of him and burns up his enemies around him.

fire came down on their followers and burned up those wicked people.

Long ago a place was prepared where a huge fire will burn the emperor of Assyria. It is deep and wide, and piled high with wood. The LORD will breathe out a stream of flame to set it on fire.

An angel of the LORD went to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 soldiers. At dawn the next day there they lay, all dead!

I will punish him with disease and bloodshed. Torrents of rain and hail, together with fire and sulfur, will pour down on him and his army and on the many nations that are on his side.

I will start a fire in the land of Magog and along all the seacoasts where people live undisturbed, and everyone will know that I am the LORD.

When the disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"

On the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and killed them all.

with a flaming fire, to punish those who reject God and who do not obey the Good News about our Lord Jesus.
