There on the mountain the LORD spoke to you face-to-face from the fire.

"These are the commandments the LORD gave to all of you when you were gathered at the mountain. When he spoke with a mighty voice from the fire and from the thick clouds, he gave these commandments and no others. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

So I speak to him face-to-face, clearly and not in riddles; he has even seen my form! How dare you speak against my servant Moses?"

To whom can God be compared? How can you describe what he is like?

Christ is the visible likeness of the invisible God. He is the first-born Son, superior to all created things.

Have any people ever lived after hearing a god speak to them from a fire, as you have?

He let you hear his voice from heaven so that he could instruct you; and here on earth he let you see his holy fire, and he spoke to you from it.

The LORD commanded Moses to tell the Israelites: "You have seen how I, the LORD, have spoken to you from heaven.

After the earthquake there was a fire---but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the soft whisper of a voice.

We were there when he was given honor and glory by God the Father, when the voice came to him from the Supreme Glory, saying, "This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased!"

We ourselves heard this voice coming from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
