So then, as the scripture says, "Whoever wants to boast must boast of what the Lord has done."

Who made you superior to others? Didn't God give you everything you have? Well, then, how can you boast, as if what you have were not a gift?

It is not right for you to be proud! You know the saying, "A little bit of yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise."

by evil people who trust in their riches and boast of their great wealth.

But the LORD says, "Can an ax claim to be greater than the one who uses it? Is a saw more important than the one who saws with it? A club doesn't lift up a person; a person lifts up a club."

The LORD says, "The wise should not boast of their wisdom, nor the strong of their strength, nor the rich of their wealth.

Now we know that everything in the Law applies to those who live under the Law, in order to stop all human excuses and bring the whole world under God's judgment.

What, then, can we boast about? Nothing! And what is the reason for this? Is it that we obey the Law? No, but that we believe.

If he was put right with God by the things he did, he would have something to boast about---but not in God's sight.

In union with Christ Jesus, then, I can be proud of my service for God.
