"Can anything good come from Nazareth?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," answered Philip.

"No," Jesus answered, "even though I do testify on my own behalf, what I say is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. You do not know where I came from or where I am going.

and made his home in a town named Nazareth. And so what the prophets had said came true: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David.

This very day in David's town your Savior was born---Christ the Lord!

When Joseph and Mary had finished doing all that was required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to their hometown of Nazareth in Galilee.

So Jesus went back with them to Nazareth, where he was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.

One night he went to Jesus and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God. No one could perform the miracles you are doing unless God were with him."

I have come with my Father's authority, but you have not received me; when, however, someone comes with his own authority, you will receive him.

But if I were to do so, my judgment would be true, because I am not alone in this; the Father who sent me is with me.

Jesus said to them, "If God really were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and now I am here. I did not come on my own authority, but he sent me.

As for me, the Father chose me and sent me into the world. How, then, can you say that I blaspheme because I said that I am the Son of God?

This is true, because I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has commanded me what I must say and speak.

Do you not believe, Philip, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I have spoken to you," Jesus said to his disciples, "do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work.

but the world must know that I love the Father; that is why I do everything as he commands me. "Come, let us go from this place.

But whoever accepts his message confirms by this that God is truthful.

But there is someone else who testifies on my behalf, and I know that what he says about me is true.

I have much to say about you, much to condemn you for. The one who sent me, however, is truthful, and I tell the world only what I have heard from him."

Certainly not! God must be true, even though all human beings are liars. As the scripture says, "You must be shown to be right when you speak; you must win your case when you are being tried."

As surely as God speaks the truth, my promise to you was not a "Yes" and a "No."

which is based on the hope for eternal life. God, who does not lie, promised us this life before the beginning of time,

There are these two things, then, that cannot change and about which God cannot lie. So we who have found safety with him are greatly encouraged to hold firmly to the hope placed before us.

So those who believe in the Son of God have this testimony in their own heart; but those who do not believe God, have made a liar of him, because they have not believed what God has said about his Son.

"Where is your father?" they asked him. "You know neither me nor my Father," Jesus answered. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also."

Jesus answered, "If I were to honor myself, that honor would be worth nothing. The one who honors me is my Father---the very one you say is your God.

You have never known him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I obey his word.

People will do these things to you because they have not known either the Father or me.

And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

Righteous Father! The world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you sent me.

The sons of Eli were scoundrels. They paid no attention to the LORD

Those who know you, LORD, will trust you; you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.

Yes, beg for knowledge; plead for insight.

If you do, you will know what it means to fear the LORD and you will succeed in learning about God.

None of them will have to teach a neighbor to know the LORD, because all will know me, from the least to the greatest. I will forgive their sins and I will no longer remember their wrongs. I, the LORD, have spoken."

The LORD has an accusation to bring against the people who live in this land. Listen, Israel, to what he says: "There is no faithfulness or love in the land, and the people do not acknowledge me as God.

The evil that the people have done keeps them from returning to their God. Idolatry has a powerful hold on them, and they do not acknowledge the LORD.

Let us try to know the LORD. He will come to us as surely as the day dawns, as surely as the spring rains fall upon the earth."

That is why I have sent my prophets to you with my message of judgment and destruction. What I want from you is plain and clear:

"My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

"My Father has given me all things. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

For as I walked through your city and looked at the places where you worship, I found an altar on which is written, 'To an Unknown God.' That which you worship, then, even though you do not know it, is what I now proclaim to you.

Because those people refuse to keep in mind the true knowledge about God, he has given them over to corrupted minds, so that they do the things that they should not do.

The God who said, "Out of darkness the light shall shine!" is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God's glory shining in the face of Christ.

If we obey God's commands, then we are sure that we know him.

If we say that we know him, but do not obey his commands, we are liars and there is no truth in us.
