From that time on Jesus began to say plainly to his disciples, "I must go to Jerusalem and suffer much from the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. I will be put to death, but three days later I will be raised to life."

and then hand him over to the Gentiles, who will make fun of him, whip him, and crucify him; but three days later he will be raised to life."

and said, "Sir, we remember that while that liar was still alive he said, 'I will be raised to life three days later.'

Give orders, then, for his tomb to be carefully guarded until the third day, so that his disciples will not be able to go and steal the body, and then tell the people that he was raised from death. This last lie would be even worse than the first one."

As they came down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, "Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has risen from death."

They obeyed his order, but among themselves they started discussing the matter, "What does this 'rising from death' mean?"

They will whip him and kill him, but three days later he will rise to life."

But the disciples did not understand any of these things; the meaning of the words was hidden from them, and they did not know what Jesus was talking about.

He is not here; he has been raised, just as he said. Come here and see the place where he was lying.

Go quickly now, and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from death, and now he is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him!' Remember what I have told you."

"Do not be afraid," Jesus said to them. "Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."

The eleven disciples went to the hill in Galilee where Jesus had told them to go.

But after I am raised to life, I will go to Galilee ahead of you."

Now go and give this message to his disciples, including Peter: 'He is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him, just as he told you.' "

After this, Jesus appeared once more to his disciples at Lake Tiberias. This is how it happened.

Simon Peter said to the others, "I am going fishing." "We will come with you," they told him. So they went out in a boat, but all that night they did not catch a thing.

Then he asked them, "Young men, haven't you caught anything?" "Not a thing," they answered.

The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" When Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken his clothes off ) and jumped into the water.

When they stepped ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it and some bread.

Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore full of big fish, a hundred and fifty-three in all; even though there were so many, still the net did not tear.

So Jesus went over, took the bread, and gave it to them; he did the same with the fish.

Then he appeared to more than five hundred of his followers at once, most of whom are still alive, although some have died.
