"How terrible it will be for you, Chorazin! How terrible for you too, Bethsaida! If the miracles which were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, the people there would have long ago sat down, put on sackcloth, and sprinkled ashes on themselves, to show that they had turned from their sins!

And as for you, Capernaum! Did you want to lift yourself up to heaven? You will be thrown down to hell!"

"But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not obey me.

How I wish my people would listen to me; how I wish they would obey me!

The LORD said, "Earth and sky, listen to what I am saying! The children I brought up have rebelled against me.

They were burned by the fierce heat, and they cursed the name of God, who has authority over these plagues. But they would not turn from their sins and praise his greatness.
