After Solomon had finished praying to the LORD, he stood up in front of the altar, where he had been kneeling with uplifted hands.

"Praise the LORD who has given his people peace, as he promised he would. He has kept all the generous promises he made through his servant Moses.

may he make us obedient to him, so that we will always live as he wants us to live, keeping all the laws and commands he gave our ancestors.

And so all the nations of the world will know that the LORD alone is God---there is no other.

Even before they finish praying to me, I will answer their prayers.

I went on praying, confessing my sins and the sins of my people Israel and pleading with the LORD my God to restore his holy Temple.

When they finished praying, the place where they were meeting was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to proclaim God's message with boldness.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, which shook the prison to its foundations. At once all the doors opened, and the chains fell off all the prisoners.

When the sun had set and it was dark, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch suddenly appeared and passed between the pieces of the animals.

There I will meet the people of Israel, and the dazzling light of my presence will make the place holy.

Suddenly the LORD sent a fire, and it consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar. When the people saw it, they all shouted and bowed down with their faces to the ground.

Then the LORD's angel reached out and touched the meat and the bread with the end of the stick he was holding. Fire came out of the rock and burned up the meat and the bread. Then the angel disappeared.

Then let the prophets of Baal pray to their god, and I will pray to the LORD, and the one who answers by sending fire---he is God." The people shouted their approval.

The LORD sent fire down, and it burned up the sacrifice, the wood, and the stones, scorched the earth and dried up the water in the trench.

He built an altar to the LORD there and offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He prayed, and the LORD answered him by sending fire from heaven to burn the sacrifices on the altar.

The LORD Almighty answers, "I will send my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then the Lord you are looking for will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger you long to see will come and proclaim my covenant."

But who will be able to endure the day when he comes? Who will be able to survive when he appears? He will be like strong soap, like a fire that refines metal.

Then the cloud covered the Tent and the dazzling light of the LORD's presence filled it.

Because of this, Moses could not go into the Tent.

Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of the LORD's presence, and when they came out, they blessed the people, and the dazzling light of the LORD's presence appeared to all the people.

As the priests were leaving the Temple, it was suddenly filled with a cloud

shining with the dazzling light of the LORD's presence, and they could not go back in to perform their duties.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was sitting on his throne, high and exalted, and his robe filled the whole Temple.

They were calling out to each other: "Holy, holy, holy! The LORD Almighty is holy! His glory fills the world."

The creatures were standing to the south of the Temple when he went in, and a cloud filled the inner courtyard.

The dazzling light of the LORD's presence rose up from the creatures and moved to the entrance of the Temple. Then the cloud filled the Temple, and the courtyard was blazing with the light.

The LORD's spirit lifted me up and took me into the inner courtyard, where I saw that the Temple was filled with the glory of the LORD.

Then the man took me through the north gate to the front of the Temple. As I looked, I saw that the Temple of the LORD was filled with the dazzling light of his presence. I threw myself face downward on the ground,

I will overthrow all the nations, and their treasures will be brought here, and the Temple will be filled with wealth.

The new Temple will be more splendid than the old one, and there I will give my people prosperity and peace." The LORD Almighty has spoken.

The city has no need of the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God shines on it, and the Lamb is its lamp.
