Asa pleased the LORD, his God, by doing what was right and good.

The LORD blessed Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father's early life and did not worship Baal.

Following the example of his ancestor King David, he did what was pleasing to the LORD.

I took the kingdom away from David's descendants and gave it to you. But you have not been like my servant David, who was completely loyal to me, obeyed my commands, and did only what I approve of.

The LORD did this because David had done what pleased him and had never disobeyed any of his commands, except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

Josiah did what was pleasing to the LORD; he followed the example of his ancestor King David, strictly obeying all the laws of God.

"People of Israel, be sure that you do everything that the LORD your God has commanded you. Do not disobey any of his laws.

Accept their verdict and follow their instructions in every detail.

This will keep him from thinking that he is better than other Israelites and from disobeying the LORD's commands in any way. Then he will reign for many years, and his descendants will rule Israel for many generations.

But you must never disobey them in any way, or worship and serve other gods.

Just be determined, be confident; and make sure that you obey the whole Law that my servant Moses gave you. Do not neglect any part of it and you will succeed wherever you go.

So be careful to obey and do everything that is written in the book of the Law of Moses. Do not neglect any part of it,

Avoid evil and walk straight ahead. Don't go one step off the right way.
