One time Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him even more.

Joseph's brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept thinking about the whole matter.

They saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted against him and decided to kill him.

Come on now, let's kill him and throw his body into one of the dry wells. We can say that a wild animal killed him. Then we will see what becomes of his dreams."

"Just throw him into this well in the wilderness, but don't hurt him." He said this, planning to save him from them and send him back to his father.

Then they took him and threw him into the well, which was dry.

but he rejected Cain and his offering. Cain became furious, and he scowled in anger.

Esau hated Jacob, because his father had given Jacob the blessing. He thought, "The time to mourn my father's death is near; then I will kill Jacob."

His enemies attack him fiercely And pursue him with their bows and arrows.

So Jesse sent for him. He was a handsome, healthy young man, and his eyes sparkled. The LORD said to Samuel, "This is the one---anoint him!"

Samuel took the olive oil and anointed David in front of his brothers. Immediately the spirit of the LORD took control of David and was with him from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

Eliab, David's oldest brother, heard David talking to the men. He became angry with David and said, "What are you doing here? Who is taking care of those sheep of yours out there in the wilderness? You smart aleck, you! You just came to watch the fighting!"

My enemies are healthy and strong; there are many who hate me for no reason.

Those who hate me for no reason are more numerous than the hairs of my head. My enemies tell lies against me; they are strong and want to kill me. They made me give back things I did not steal.

so Jesus' brothers said to him, "Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your followers will see the things that you are doing.

(Not even his brothers believed in him.)

"If the world hates you, just remember that it has hated me first.

If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you as its own. But I chose you from this world, and you do not belong to it; that is why the world hates you.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, and wrong. We were slaves to passions and pleasures of all kinds. We spent our lives in malice and envy; others hated us and we hated them.

But if we hate others, we are in the darkness; we walk in it and do not know where we are going, because the darkness has made us blind.

Here is the clear difference between God's children and the Devil's children: those who do not do what is right or do not love others are not God's children.

We must not be like Cain; he belonged to the Evil One and murdered his own brother Abel. Why did Cain murder him? Because the things he himself did were wrong, and the things his brother did were right.

If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen.
