God had not forgotten Noah and all the animals with him in the boat; he caused a wind to blow, and the water started going down.

The LORD blessed Sarah, as he had promised,

When the LORD saw that Leah was loved less than Rachel, he made it possible for her to have children, but Rachel remained childless.

The next morning Elkanah and his family got up early, and after worshiping the LORD, they went back home to Ramah. Elkanah had intercourse with his wife Hannah, and the LORD answered her prayer.

So it was that she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, and explained, "I asked the LORD for him."

He remembered his sacred promise to Abraham his servant.

Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, "I can't take the place of God. He is the one who keeps you from having children."

The LORD blessed Sarah, as he had promised,

and she became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham when he was old. The boy was born at the time God had said he would be born.

Because Rebecca had no children, Isaac prayed to the LORD for her. The LORD answered his prayer, and Rebecca became pregnant.

He honors the childless wife in her home; he makes her happy by giving her children. Praise the LORD!

Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a real blessing.
