But the LORD said to him, "Pay no attention to how tall and handsome he is. I have rejected him, because I do not judge as people judge. They look at the outward appearance, but I look at the heart."

And to Solomon he said, "My son, I charge you to acknowledge your father's God and to serve him with an undivided heart and a willing mind. He knows all our thoughts and desires. If you go to him, he will accept you; but if you turn away from him, he will abandon you forever.

hear their prayer. Listen to them in your home in heaven and forgive them. You alone know the thoughts of the human heart. Deal with each of us as we deserve,

You are a righteous God and judge our thoughts and desires. Stop the wickedness of evildoers and reward those who are good.

The LORD looks down from heaven and sees all of us humans.

He forms all their thoughts and knows everything they do.

you would surely have discovered it, because you know our secret thoughts.

You place our sins before you, our secret sins where you can see them.

I could ask the darkness to hide me or the light around me to turn into night,

but even darkness is not dark for you, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same to you.

The LORD sees what happens everywhere; he is watching us, whether we do good or evil.

Not even the world of the dead can keep the LORD from knowing what is there; how then can we hide our thoughts from God?

I, the LORD, search the minds and test the hearts of people. I treat each of them according to the way they live, according to what they do."

Their ancestors did not listen to me or pay any attention. Instead, they became stubborn; they would not obey me or learn from me.

"Tell these people that they must obey all my commands. They must not carry any load in through the gates of this city on the Sabbath. They must observe the Sabbath as a sacred day and must not do any work at all.

But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew them all.

A third time Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter became sad because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" and so he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Take care of my sheep.

So you should not pass judgment on anyone before the right time comes. Final judgment must wait until the Lord comes; he will bring to light the dark secrets and expose the hidden purposes of people's minds. And then all will receive from God the praise they deserve.

I will also kill her followers, and then all the churches will know that I am the one who knows everyone's thoughts and wishes. I will repay each of you according to what you have done.

The world of the dead lies open to God; no covering shields it from his sight.

He watches every step we take.

Has anyone ever shown you the gates that guard the dark world of the dead?

God is going to judge everything we do, whether good or bad, even things done in secret.

"Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do.

When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God's message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!'

"When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne,

and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Nor does the Father himself judge anyone. He has given his Son the full right to judge,

"I am telling you the truth: those who hear my words and believe in him who sent me have eternal life. They will not be judged, but have already passed from death to life.

Just as the Father is himself the source of life, in the same way he has made his Son to be the source of life.

Do not be surprised at this; the time is coming when all the dead will hear his voice

For he has fixed a day in which he will judge the whole world with justice by means of a man he has chosen. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising that man from death!"

And so, according to the Good News I preach, this is how it will be on that Day when God through Jesus Christ will judge the secret thoughts of all.

For Christ died and rose to life in order to be the Lord of the living and of the dead.

For the scripture says, "As surely as I am the living God, says the Lord, everyone will kneel before me, and everyone will confess that I am God."

For all of us must appear before Christ, to be judged by him. We will each receive what we deserve, according to everything we have done, good or bad, in our bodily life.

Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sits on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence and were seen no more.

Then the sea gave up its dead. Death and the world of the dead also gave up the dead they held. And all were judged according to what they had done.

Those who did not have their name written in the book of the living were thrown into the lake of fire.
