This is a message about Edom. Someone calls to me from Edom, "Sentry, how soon will the night be over? Tell me how soon it will end."

I answer, "Morning is coming, but night will come again. If you want to ask again, come back and ask."

And early in the morning you say, 'It is going to rain, because the sky is red and dark.' You can predict the weather by looking at the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs concerning these times!

Watch out, then, because you do not know what day your Lord will come.

So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.

There is no need to write you, friends, about the times and occasions when these things will happen.

When people say, "Everything is quiet and safe," then suddenly destruction will hit them! It will come as suddenly as the pains that come upon a woman in labor, and people will not escape.

The captain found him there and said to him, "What are you doing asleep? Get up and pray to your god for help. Maybe he will feel sorry for us and spare our lives."

The bridegroom was late in coming, so they began to nod and fall asleep.

The ten young women woke up and trimmed their lamps.

Then he returned to the three disciples and found them asleep; and he said to Peter, "How is it that you three were not able to keep watch with me for even one hour?

Keep watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Watch, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming---it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise.

What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!"

Come back to your right senses and stop your sinful ways. I declare to your shame that some of you do not know God.

for anything that is clearly revealed becomes light. That is why it is said, "Wake up, sleeper, and rise from death, and Christ will shine on you."

All of you are people who belong to the light, who belong to the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

It is at night when people sleep; it is at night when they get drunk.

Work hard at whatever you do, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead---and that is where you are going.

When these things begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your salvation is near."

What I mean, my friends, is this: there is not much time left, and from now on married people should live as though they were not married;

those who deal in material goods, as though they were not fully occupied with them. For this world, as it is now, will not last much longer.

The end of all things is near. You must be self-controlled and alert, to be able to pray.

But we wait for what God has promised: new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness will be at home.

Look on our Lord's patience as the opportunity he is giving you to be saved, just as our dear friend Paul wrote to you, using the wisdom that God gave him.

"Listen!" says Jesus. "I am coming soon! I will bring my rewards with me, to give to each one according to what he has done.

He who gives his testimony to all this says, "Yes indeed! I am coming soon!" So be it. Come, Lord Jesus!
