How can you say to your brother, 'Please, brother, let me take that speck out of your eye,' yet cannot even see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

You teach others---why don't you teach yourself ? You preach, "Do not steal"---but do you yourself steal?

You say, "Do not commit adultery"---but do you commit adultery? You detest idols---but do you rob temples?

He did not stay in Nazareth, but went to live in Capernaum, a town by Lake Galilee, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.

Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in the synagogues, preaching the Good News about the Kingdom, and healing people who had all kinds of disease and sickness.

And as for you, Capernaum! Did you want to lift yourself up to heaven? You will be thrown down to hell! If the miracles which were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would still be in existence today!

You can be sure that on the Judgment Day God will show more mercy to Sodom than to you!"

Jesus said to him, "None of you will ever believe unless you see miracles and wonders."

When the wine had given out, Jesus' mother said to him, "They are out of wine."

"You must not tell me what to do," Jesus replied. "My time has not yet come."

Then the woman left her water jar, went back to the town, and said to the people there,

so Jesus' brothers said to him, "Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your followers will see the things that you are doing.

People don't hide what they are doing if they want to be well known. Since you are doing these things, let the whole world know about you!"

As the scripture says, "Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?

Who has ever given him anything, so that he had to pay it back?"

No longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards. Even if at one time we judged Christ according to human standards, we no longer do so.

and went back to his hometown. He taught in the synagogue, and those who heard him were amazed. "Where did he get such wisdom?" they asked. "And what about his miracles?

Jesus left that place and went back to his hometown, followed by his disciples.
