One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."

Jesus said to them, "When you pray, say this: 'Father: May your holy name be honored; may your Kingdom come.

"Make certain you do not perform your religious duties in public so that people will see what you do. If you do these things publicly, you will not have any reward from your Father in heaven.

But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

"If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.

In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

You must be perfect---just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father's consent.

I tell you, I will never again drink this wine until the day I drink the new wine with you in my Father's Kingdom."

Once more Jesus went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cup of suffering cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done."

You are our father. Our ancestors Abraham and Jacob do not acknowledge us, but you, LORD, are our father, the one who has always rescued us.

But you are our father, LORD. We are like clay, and you are like the potter. You created us,

I will get up and go to my father and say, "Father, I have sinned against God and against you.

'Father,' the son said, 'I have sinned against God and against you. I am no longer fit to be called your son.'

"Do not hold on to me," Jesus told her, "because I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am returning to him who is my Father and their Father, my God and their God."

And so I write to all of you in Rome whom God loves and has called to be his own people: May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God's children, and by the Spirit's power we cry out to God, "Father! my Father!"

From Paul, whose call to be an apostle did not come from human beings or by human means, but from Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from death.

To show that you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who cries out, "Father, my Father."

You call him Father, when you pray to God, who judges all people by the same standard, according to what each one has done; so then, spend the rest of your lives here on earth in reverence for him.

And you must not call anyone here on earth 'Father,' because you have only the one Father in heaven.

and prayed aloud, "O LORD God of our ancestors, you rule in heaven over all the nations of the world. You are powerful and mighty, and no one can oppose you.

Our God is in heaven; he does whatever he wishes.

"I am the high and holy God, who lives forever. I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are humble and repentant, so that I can restore their confidence and hope.

The LORD says, "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house, then, could you build for me, what kind of place for me to live in?

Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD was speaking about when he said, 'All who serve me must respect my holiness; I will reveal my glory to my people.' " But Aaron remained silent.

Your fame will be great, and people will forever say, 'The LORD Almighty is God over Israel.' And you will preserve my dynasty for all time.

listen to his prayer. In heaven, where you live, hear him and do what he asks you to do, so that all the peoples of the world may know you and obey you, as your people Israel do. Then they will know that this Temple I have built is the place where you are to be worshiped.

Your fame will be great, and people will forever say, 'The LORD Almighty is God over Israel.' And you will preserve my dynasty for all time.

The following Levites gave a call to worship: Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah. They said: "Stand up and praise the LORD your God; praise him forever and ever! Let everyone praise his glorious name, although no human praise is great enough."

Praise the LORD, the God of Israel! He alone does these wonderful things.

He set his people free and made an eternal covenant with them. Holy and mighty is he!

They were calling out to each other: "Holy, holy, holy! The LORD Almighty is holy! His glory fills the world."

Now, LORD our God, rescue us from the Assyrians, so that all the nations of the world will know that you alone are God."

When I demonstrate to the nations the holiness of my great name---the name you disgraced among them---then they will know that I am the LORD. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken. I will use you to show the nations that I am holy.

In this way I will show all the nations that I am great and that I am holy. They will know then that I am the LORD."

But the earth will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD's glory as the seas are full of water.

Then the LORD will be king over all the earth; everyone will worship him as God and know him by the same name.

People from one end of the world to the other honor me. Everywhere they burn incense to me and offer acceptable sacrifices. All of them honor me!

"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom he is pleased!"

Jesus said to them, "When you pray, say this: 'Father: May your holy name be honored; may your Kingdom come.

He alone is immortal; he lives in the light that no one can approach. No one has ever seen him; no one can ever see him. To him be honor and eternal power! Amen.

"Our Lord and God! You are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power. For you created all things, and by your will they were given existence and life."

and sang in a loud voice: "The Lamb who was killed is worthy to receive power, wealth, wisdom, and strength, honor, glory, and praise!"
