After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt

About this time King Herod began to persecute some members of the church.

When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he went ahead and had Peter arrested. (This happened during the time of the Festival of Unleavened Bread.)

In this way what the prophet Jeremiah had said came true:

and made his home in a town named Nazareth. And so what the prophets had said came true: "He will be called a Nazarene."

Now all this happened in order to make come true what the Lord had said through the prophet,

This was done to make come true what the prophet Isaiah had said,

"Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, on the road to the sea, on the other side of the Jordan, Galilee, land of the Gentiles!

He did this to make come true what the prophet Isaiah had said, "He himself took our sickness and carried away our diseases."

and gave them orders not to tell others about him.

"Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, the one I love, and with whom I am pleased. I will send my Spirit upon him, and he will announce my judgment to the nations.

This happened in order to make come true what the prophet had said:

But in that case, how could the Scriptures come true which say that this is what must happen?"

But all this has happened in order to make come true what the prophets wrote in the Scriptures." Then all the disciples left him and ran away.

They crucified him and then divided his clothes among them by throwing dice.

Then he said to them, "These are the very things I told you about while I was still with you: everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the writings of the prophets, and the Psalms had to come true."

Jesus knew that by now everything had been completed; and in order to make the scripture come true, he said, "I am thirsty."

This was done to make the scripture come true: "Not one of his bones will be broken."

"My friends," he said, "the scripture had to come true in which the Holy Spirit, speaking through David, made a prediction about Judas, who was the guide for those who arrested Jesus.

Then you must tell him that I, the LORD, say, 'Israel is my first-born son.

God brought them out of Egypt; He fights for them like a wild ox. They devour their enemies, Crush their bones, smash their arrows.

The LORD says, "When Israel was a child, I loved him and called him out of Egypt as my son.
