LORD, when you left the mountains of Seir, when you came out of the region of Edom, the earth shook, and rain fell from the sky. Yes, water poured down from the clouds.

The mountains quaked before the LORD of Sinai, before the LORD, the God of Israel.

O God, when you led your people, when you marched across the desert,

the earth shook, and the sky poured down rain, because of the coming of the God of Sinai, the coming of the God of Israel.

There was a time when you came and did terrifying things that we did not expect; the mountains saw you and shook with fear.

This is what the LORD Almighty said about Edom: "Have the people of Edom lost their good judgment? Can their advisers no longer tell them what to do? Has all their wisdom disappeared?

So I will send fire upon the city of Teman and burn down the fortresses of Bozrah."

The fighting men of Teman will be terrified, and every soldier in Edom will be killed.

His mother got an Egyptian wife for him.

and the Israelites started on their journey out of the Sinai Desert. The cloud came to rest in the wilderness of Paran.

The LORD came from Mount Sinai; he rose like the sun over Edom and shone on his people from Mount Paran. Ten thousand angels were with him, a flaming fire at his right hand.

Samuel died, and all the Israelites came together and mourned for him. Then they buried him at his home in Ramah. After this, David went to the wilderness of Paran.

They talk about me and say, "God will not help him."

I call to the LORD for help, and from his sacred hill he answers me.

Tremble with fear and stop sinning; think deeply about this, when you lie in silence on your beds.

The LORD has revealed himself by his righteous judgments, and the wicked are trapped by their own deeds.

Make them afraid, O LORD; make them know that they are only mortal beings.

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud appeared on the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast was heard. All the people in the camp trembled with fear.

All of Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD had come down on it in fire. The smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and all the people trembled violently.

The LORD came down on the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. Moses went up

When the people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast and saw the lightning and the smoking mountain, they trembled with fear and stood a long way off.

Moses went up Mount Sinai, and a cloud covered it.

and said, 'The LORD our God showed us his greatness and his glory when we heard him speak from the fire! Today we have seen that it is possible for people to continue to live, even though God has spoken to them.

With his many thousands of mighty chariots the Lord comes from Sinai into the holy place.

The Red Sea looked and ran away; the Jordan River stopped flowing.

What happened, Sea, to make you run away? And you, O Jordan, why did you stop flowing?

Tremble, earth, at the Lord's coming, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

They were calling out to each other: "Holy, holy, holy! The LORD Almighty is holy! His glory fills the world."

The Law was carved in letters on stone tablets, and God's glory appeared when it was given. Even though the brightness on Moses' face was fading, it was so strong that the people of Israel could not keep their eyes fixed on him. If the Law, which brings death when it is in force, came with such glory,

The system which brings condemnation was glorious; how much more glorious is the activity which brings salvation!

For if there was glory in that which lasted for a while, how much more glory is there in that which lasts forever!

And I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, in the world below, and in the sea---all living beings in the universe---and they were singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honor, glory and might, forever and ever!"

The four living creatures answered, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshiped.
