Then I prayed, "Almighty LORD, you are a just judge; you test people's thoughts and feelings. I have placed my cause in your hands; so let me watch you take revenge on these people."

"Remember, LORD, that I have served you faithfully and loyally and that I have always tried to do what you wanted me to." And he began to cry bitterly.

I know that you test everyone's heart and are pleased with people of integrity. In honesty and sincerity I have willingly given all this to you, and I have seen how your people who are gathered here have been happy to bring offerings to you.

Yet God knows every step I take; if he tests me, he will find me pure.

You know my heart. You have come to me at night; you have examined me completely and found no evil desire in me. I speak no evil,

Declare me innocent, O LORD, because I do what is right and trust you completely.

you would surely have discovered it, because you know our secret thoughts.

LORD, you have examined me and you know me.

Examine me, O God, and know my mind; test me, and discover my thoughts.

A third time Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter became sad because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" and so he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Take care of my sheep.

If our conscience condemns us, we know that God is greater than our conscience and that he knows everything.

And so, my dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have courage in God's presence.

Bring disgrace on those who persecute me, but spare me, LORD. Fill them with terror, but do not terrify me. Bring disaster on them and break them to pieces.

But now, LORD, let their children starve to death; let them be killed in war. Let the women lose their husbands and children; let the men die of disease and the young men be killed in battle.

But, LORD, you know all their plots to kill me. Do not forgive their evil or pardon their sin. Throw them down in defeat and deal with them while you are angry."

But, Almighty LORD, you test people justly; you know what is in their hearts and minds. So let me see you take revenge on my enemies, for I have placed my cause in your hands.

Moab and its cities are destroyed; its finest young men have been slaughtered. I am the king, the LORD Almighty, and I have spoken.

Kill all their soldiers! Slaughter them! The people of Babylonia are doomed! The time has come for them to be punished!"

They will be wounded and die in the streets of their cities.

I was like a trusting lamb taken out to be killed, and I did not know that it was against me that they were planning evil things. They were saying, "Let's chop down the tree while it is still healthy; let's kill him so that no one will remember him any more."

But it is on your account that we are being killed all the time, that we are treated like sheep to be slaughtered.

Your life here on earth has been full of luxury and pleasure. You have made yourselves fat for the day of slaughter.
