Isaiah 24:1-23
1
The LORD is going to devastate the earth and leave it desolate. He will twist the earth's surface and scatter its people.
2
Everyone will meet the same fate---the priests and the people, slaves and masters, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, rich and poor.
3
The earth will lie shattered and ruined. The LORD has spoken and it will be done.
4
The earth dries up and withers; the whole world grows weak; both earth and sky decay.
5
The people have defiled the earth by breaking God's laws and by violating the covenant he made to last forever.
6
So God has pronounced a curse on the earth. Its people are paying for what they have done. Fewer and fewer remain alive.
7
The grapevines wither, and wine is becoming scarce. Everyone who was once happy is now sad,
8
and the joyful music of their harps and drums has ceased.
9
There is no more happy singing over wine; no one enjoys its taste any more.
10
In the city everything is in chaos, and people lock themselves in their houses for safety.

People shout in the streets because there is no more wine. Happiness is gone forever; it has been banished from the land.

The city is in ruins, and its gates have been broken down.

This is what will happen in every nation all over the world. It will be like the end of harvest, when the olives have been beaten off every tree and the last grapes picked from the vines.

Those who survive will sing for joy. Those in the West will tell how great the LORD is,

and those in the East will praise him. The people who live along the sea will praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
16
From the most distant parts of the world we will hear songs in praise of Israel, the righteous nation. But there is no hope for me! I am wasting away! Traitors continue to betray, and their treachery grows worse and worse.

Listen to me, everyone! There are terrors, pits, and traps waiting for you.
18
Anyone who tries to escape from the terror will fall in a pit, and anyone who escapes from the pit will be caught in a trap. Torrents of rain will pour from the sky, and earth's foundations will shake.

The earth will crack and shatter and split open.
20
The earth itself will stagger like a drunk, sway like a hut in a storm. The world is weighed down by its sins; it will collapse and never rise again.
21
A time is coming when the LORD will punish the powers above and the rulers of the earth.
22
God will crowd kings together like prisoners in a pit. He will shut them in prison until the time of their punishment comes.
23
The moon will grow dark, and the sun will no longer shine, for the LORD Almighty will be king. He will rule in Jerusalem on Mount Zion, and the leaders of the people will see his glory.
Jeremiah 25:15-29

The LORD, the God of Israel, said to me, "Here is a wine cup filled with my anger. Take it to all the nations to whom I send you, and make them drink from it.

When they drink from it, they will stagger and go out of their minds because of the war I am sending against them."
17
So I took the cup from the LORD's hand, gave it to all the nations to whom the LORD had sent me, and made them drink from it.
18
Jerusalem and all the towns of Judah, together with its kings and leaders, were made to drink from it, so that they would become a desert, a terrible and shocking sight, and so that people would use their name as a curse---as they still do.
19
Here is the list of all the others who had to drink from the cup: the king of Egypt, his officials and leaders; all the Egyptians and all the foreigners in Egypt; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the Philistine cities of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and what remains of Ashdod; all the people of Edom, Moab, and Ammon; all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; all the kings of the Mediterranean lands; the cities of Dedan, Tema, and Buz; all the people who cut their hair short; all the kings of Arabia; all the kings of the desert tribes; all the kings of Zimri, Elam, and Media; all the kings of the north, far and near, one after another. Every nation on the face of the earth had to drink from it. Last of all, the king of Babylonia will drink from it.

Then the LORD said to me, "Tell the people that I, the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, am commanding them to drink until they are drunk and vomit, until they fall down and cannot get up, because of the war that I am sending against them.

And if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink from it, then tell them that the LORD Almighty has said that they will still have to drink from it.
29
I will begin my work of destruction in my own city. Do they think they will go unpunished? No, they will be punished, for I am going to send war on all the people on earth. I, the LORD Almighty, have spoken.
Joel 3:9-14

"Make this announcement among the nations: 'Prepare for war; call your warriors; gather all your soldiers and march!

Hammer the points of your plows into swords and your pruning knives into spears. Even the weak must fight.

Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather in the valley.' " Send down, O LORD, your army to attack them!

"The nations must get ready and come to the Valley of Judgment. There I, the LORD, will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
13
They are very wicked; cut them down like grain at harvest time; crush them as grapes are crushed in a full wine press until the wine runs over."

Thousands and thousands are in the Valley of Judgment. It is there that the day of the LORD will soon come.
Amos 1:1-2

These are the words of Amos, a shepherd from the town of Tekoa. Two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel, God revealed to Amos all these things about Israel.

Amos said, "The LORD roars from Mount Zion; his voice thunders from Jerusalem. The pastures dry up, and the grass on Mount Carmel turns brown."
Zephaniah 3:8
"Just wait," the LORD says. "Wait for the day when I rise to accuse the nations. I have made up my mind to gather nations and kingdoms in order to let them feel the force of my anger. The whole earth will be destroyed by the fire of my fury.
Zechariah 14:3
Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he has fought in times past.
Zechariah 14:12-16

The LORD will bring a terrible disease on all the nations that make war on Jerusalem. Their flesh will rot away while they are still alive; their eyes and their tongues will rot away.

At that time the LORD will make them so confused and afraid that everyone will seize the man next to him and attack him.

The men of Judah will fight to defend Jerusalem. They will take as loot the wealth of all the nations---gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.

A terrible disease will also fall on the horses, the mules, the camels, and the donkeys---on all the animals in the camps of the enemy.

Then all of the survivors from the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go there each year to worship the LORD Almighty as king and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.

God's anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known.

And I saw the Lamb break open the sixth seal. There was a violent earthquake, and the sun became black like coarse black cloth, and the moon turned completely red like blood.

The stars fell down to the earth, like unripe figs falling from the tree when a strong wind shakes it.

The sky disappeared like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

Then the kings of the earth, the rulers and the military chiefs, the rich and the powerful, and all other people, slave and free, hid themselves in caves and under rocks on the mountains.

They called out to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the eyes of the one who sits on the throne and from the anger of the Lamb!

The terrible day of their anger is here, and who can stand up against it?"
Revelation 14:15-20

Then another angel came out from the temple and cried out in a loud voice to the one who was sitting on the cloud, "Use your sickle and reap the harvest, because the time has come; the earth is ripe for the harvest!"

Then the one who sat on the cloud swung his sickle on the earth, and the earth's harvest was reaped.

Then I saw another angel come out of the temple in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle.

Then another angel, who is in charge of the fire, came from the altar. He shouted in a loud voice to the angel who had the sharp sickle, "Use your sickle, and cut the grapes from the vineyard of the earth, because the grapes are ripe!"

So the angel swung his sickle on the earth, cut the grapes from the vine, and threw them into the wine press of God's furious anger.

The grapes were squeezed out in the wine press outside the city, and blood came out of the wine press in a flood two hundred miles long and about five feet deep.
Revelation 19:15-21

Out of his mouth came a sharp sword, with which he will defeat the nations. He will rule over them with a rod of iron, and he will trample out the wine in the wine press of the furious anger of the Almighty God.

On his robe and on his thigh was written the name: "King of kings and Lord of lords."

Then I saw an angel standing on the sun. He shouted in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair: "Come and gather together for God's great feast!

Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and soldiers, the flesh of horses and their riders, the flesh of all people, slave and free, great and small!"

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered to fight against the one who was riding the horse and against his army.

The beast was taken prisoner, together with the false prophet who had performed miracles in his presence. (It was by those miracles that he had deceived those who had the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped the image of the beast.) The beast and the false prophet were both thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

Their armies were killed by the sword that comes out of the mouth of the one who was riding the horse; and all the birds ate all they could of their flesh.
Revelation 20:9
They spread out over the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people and the city that he loves. But fire came down from heaven and destroyed them.

Those who did not have their name written in the book of the living were thrown into the lake of fire.

The LORD's power and glory can be seen in the distance. Fire and smoke show his anger. He speaks, and his words burn like fire.

He sends the wind in front of him like a flood that carries everything away. It sweeps nations to destruction and puts an end to their evil plans.

But you, God's people, will be happy and sing as you do on the night of a sacred festival. You will be as happy as those who walk to the music of flutes on their way to the Temple of the LORD, the defender of Israel.

The LORD will let everyone hear his majestic voice and feel the force of his anger. There will be flames, cloudbursts, hailstones, and torrents of rain.
Nahum 1:2-6

The LORD God tolerates no rivals; he punishes those who oppose him. In his anger he pays them back.

The LORD does not easily become angry, but he is powerful and never lets the guilty go unpunished. Where the LORD walks, storms arise; the clouds are the dust raised by his feet!

He commands the sea, and it dries up! He makes the rivers go dry. The fields of Bashan wither, Mount Carmel turns brown, and the flowers of Lebanon fade.

Mountains quake in the presence of the LORD; hills melt before him. The earth shakes when the LORD appears; the world and all its people tremble.

When he is angry, who can survive? Who can survive his terrible fury? He pours out his flaming anger; rocks crumble to dust before him.
