Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively.

If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how can you keep warm by yourself ?

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to live alone. I will make a suitable companion to help him."

A foreigner who has joined the LORD's people should not say, "The LORD will not let me worship with his people." A man who has been castrated should never think that because he cannot have children, he can never be part of God's people.

then your name will be remembered in my Temple and among my people longer than if you had sons and daughters. You will never be forgotten."

But Abram answered, "Sovereign LORD, what good will your reward do me, since I have no children? My only heir is Eliezer of Damascus.

You have given me no children, and one of my slaves will inherit my property."

You are doomed! You buy more houses and fields to add to those you already have. Soon there will be no place for anyone else to live, and you alone will live in the land.

Everything leads to weariness---a weariness too great for words. Our eyes can never see enough to be satisfied; our ears can never hear enough.

If you love money, you will never be satisfied; if you long to be rich, you will never get all you want. It is useless.

Human desires are like the world of the dead---there is always room for more.

Wealth is deceitful. Greedy people are proud and restless---like death itself they are never satisfied. That is why they conquer nation after nation for themselves.

But before you know it, you that have conquered others will be in debt yourselves and be forced to pay interest. Enemies will come and make you tremble. They will plunder you!

You are doomed! You have made your family rich with what you took by violence, and have tried to make your own home safe from harm and danger!

Everything that belongs to the world---what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of---none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world.

no more than a shadow. All we do is for nothing; we gather wealth, but don't know who will get it.

The maker of idols hasn't the wit or the sense to say, "Some of the wood I burned up. I baked some bread on the coals, and I roasted meat and ate it. And the rest of the wood I made into an idol. Here I am bowing down to a block of wood!"

It makes as much sense as eating ashes. His foolish ideas have so misled him that he is beyond help. He won't admit to himself that the idol he holds in his hand is not a god at all.

But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night you will have to give up your life; then who will get all these things you have kept for yourself ? ' "

I determined that I would examine and study all the things that are done in this world. God has laid a miserable fate upon us.

As long as you live, everything you do brings nothing but worry and heartache. Even at night your mind can't rest. It is all useless.

Why spend money on what does not satisfy? Why spend your wages and still be hungry? Listen to me and do what I say, and you will enjoy the best food of all.
