The LORD blessed Sarah, as he had promised,

The next morning Elkanah and his family got up early, and after worshiping the LORD, they went back home to Ramah. Elkanah had intercourse with his wife Hannah, and the LORD answered her prayer.

So it was that she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, and explained, "I asked the LORD for him."

He honors the childless wife in her home; he makes her happy by giving her children. Praise the LORD!

Some time later his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and did not leave the house for five months.

"Now at last the Lord has helped me," she said. "He has taken away my public disgrace!"

Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old.

It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He trusted God to keep his promise.
