The LORD has shown you this, to prove to you that he alone is God and that there is no other.

So those people worshiped the LORD, but they also worshiped their idols; and to this day their descendants continue to do the same.

I will destroy anyone who goes up on the roof and worships the sun, the moon, and the stars. I will also destroy those who worship me and swear loyalty to me, but then take oaths in the name of the god Molech.

"You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

When day came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he named apostles:

Surely you know that when you surrender yourselves as slaves to obey someone, you are in fact the slaves of the master you obey---either of sin, which results in death, or of obedience, which results in being put right with God.

You were set free from sin and became the slaves of righteousness.

When you were the slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness.

But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life.

You cannot drink from the Lord's cup and also from the cup of demons; you cannot eat at the Lord's table and also at the table of demons.

Or do we want to make the Lord jealous? Do we think that we are stronger than he?

Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers, for it cannot be done. How can right and wrong be partners? How can light and darkness live together?

How can God's temple come to terms with pagan idols? For we are the temple of the living God! As God himself has said, "I will make my home with my people and live among them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people."

I know what you have done; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were either one or the other!

But because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth!

When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed, "The LORD is God; the LORD alone is God!"

Then Moses and Aaron went to the king of Egypt and said, "The LORD, the God of Israel, says, 'Let my people go, so that they can hold a festival in the desert to honor me.' "

"Who is the LORD?" the king demanded. "Why should I listen to him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD; and I will not let Israel go."

If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshiped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the LORD."

"Then get rid of those foreign gods that you have," he demanded, "and pledge your loyalty to the LORD, the God of Israel."

The people then said to Joshua, "We will serve the LORD our God. We will obey his commands."

Samuel said to the people of Israel, "If you are going to turn to the LORD with all your hearts, you must get rid of all the foreign gods and the images of the goddess Astarte. Dedicate yourselves completely to the LORD and worship only him, and he will rescue you from the power of the Philistines."

You, LORD, are God, and you have made this wonderful promise to me.

God accepted Manasseh's prayer and answered it by letting him go back to Jerusalem and rule again. This convinced Manasseh that the LORD was God.

Acknowledge that the LORD is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock.

Laban and Bethuel answered, "Since this matter comes from the LORD, it is not for us to make a decision.

"What can we say to you, sir?" Judah answered. "How can we argue? How can we clear ourselves? God has uncovered our guilt. All of us are now your slaves and not just the one with whom the cup was found."

I have already said more than I should.

'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' the king asked him. But the man said nothing.

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they came together,

"Teacher," he asked, "which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Now we know that everything in the Law applies to those who live under the Law, in order to stop all human excuses and bring the whole world under God's judgment.

What did you gain from doing the things that you are now ashamed of ? The result of those things is death!
