David was now in great trouble, because his men were all very bitter about losing their children, and they were threatening to stone him; but the LORD his God gave him courage.

and prayed aloud, "O LORD God of our ancestors, you rule in heaven over all the nations of the world. You are powerful and mighty, and no one can oppose you.

You are our God! Punish them, for we are helpless in the face of this large army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you for help."

Then King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz prayed to God and cried out to him for help.

I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears.

The helpless call to him, and he answers; he saves them from all their troubles.

Call to me when trouble comes; I will save you, and you will praise me."

When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them.

Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.
