Woe to you who are full, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

He fills the hungry with good things, and the rich He sends away empty.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living Mighty God; when shall I come and appear before God?

I have spread my hands toward You; my soul is like a weary land. Selah

Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Why do you weigh out money for what is not bread, and your labor for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and wander homeless.

in hardship and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness;

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with the image of You.

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips,

Blessed is the one whom You choose, and cause to draw near You. He shall dwell in Your courts; we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with good.

And on this mountain Jehovah of Hosts will make a feast of fatness for all the people, a feast of the dregs of wine, of fat things full of marrow, of the dregs of refined wine.

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground. I will pour My spirit upon your seed, and My blessing upon your offspring;

and they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the watercourses.

that You may say to the prisoners, Go out! To those who are in darkness, Show yourselves! They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be on all the barren heights.

They shall not hunger nor thirst; nor shall the heat nor sun strike them; for He who has mercy on them will lead them; even by the springs of water He will guide them.

Therefore thus says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, My servants will eat, but you shall be hungry. Behold, My servants will drink, but you shall be thirsty. Behold, My servants will rejoice, but you shall be ashamed.

Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;

And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says Jehovah.

For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have satisfied every sorrowful soul.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would give you living water.

And Jesus said to them, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me shall not ever hunger, and he who believes into Me shall never ever thirst.

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

He who believes into Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not fall on them, nor any burning heat;

I am weary from my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I dissolve my couch with my tears.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for Jehovah has heard the voice of my weeping.

My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day, Where is your God?

Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because they do not keep Your Law.

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He who goes forth with weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting; for that is the end of all men; and the living will take it to heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made better.

For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer you.

For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid Myself and was angry, and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

I have seen his ways, and will heal him. I will also lead him, and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.

The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon Me; because Jehovah has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the mantle of praise for the spirit of heaviness; so that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that He might be glorified.

Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and my eye shall weep and cry and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is taken captive.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way; they shall not stumble in it, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself, saying, You have chastised me, and I was chastised, like an untrained bull; draw me back, and I shall return. For You are Jehovah my God.

Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a delightful child? For as often as I spoke against him, I call to mind and remember him still. Therefore My heart is stirred for him; I will have mercy and compassion upon him, says Jehovah.

Those who survive will escape and be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, each for his iniquity.

and Jehovah said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Jesus wept.

Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will become joy.

A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she gives birth to the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a person has been born into the world.

I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ on behalf of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh,

who encourages us in all our affliction, that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction, through the comfort by which we ourselves are encouraged by God.

Now if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation, being effective in the endurance of the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are encouraged, it is for your comfort and salvation.

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vengeance! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

But let patience have its perfecting work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,

whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him yet, believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

And I heard a loud voice from Heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall one be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?

And Sarah said, God has made laughter for me, and all who hear will laugh with me.

Jehovah is my strength and my shield; my heart has trusted in Him, and I have been helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.

You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have loosened my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,

so that my glory may make music unto You, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto You forever.

i1 [A Song of Ascents.] i0 par When Jehovah brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy. Then they said among the nations, Jehovah has done great things for them.

And in that day you shall say, O Jehovah, I will praise You; though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.

Behold, the Mighty God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid; for YAH JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

Behold, My servants will sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl because of a crushed spirit.
