There were foreigners traveling with the Israelites. They had a strong craving for meat, and even the Israelites themselves began to complain: "If only we could have some meat!

That place was named Kibroth Hattaavah (which means "Graves of Craving"), because there they buried the people who had craved meat.

They deliberately put God to the test by demanding the food they wanted.

They were filled with craving in the desert and put God to the test;

Now, all of this is an example for us, to warn us not to desire evil things, as they did,

You want things, but you cannot have them, so you are ready to kill; you strongly desire things, but you cannot get them, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have what you want because you do not ask God for it.

Everything that belongs to the world---what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of---none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world.

The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever.

But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night you will have to give up your life; then who will get all these things you have kept for yourself ? ' "
