It was three years later that I went to Jerusalem to obtain information from Peter, and I stayed with him for two weeks.

Paul and Barnabas got into a fierce argument with them about this, so it was decided that Paul and Barnabas and some of the others in Antioch should go to Jerusalem and see the apostles and elders about this matter.

When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church, the apostles, and the elders, to whom they told all that God had done through them.

The other Jewish believers also started acting like cowards along with Peter; and even Barnabas was swept along by their cowardly action.

And so it was that Joseph, a Levite born in Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means "One who Encourages"),

sold a field he owned, brought the money, and turned it over to the apostles.

Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul.

They did this, then, and sent the money to the church elders by Barnabas and Saul.

Barnabas and Saul finished their mission and returned from Jerusalem, taking John Mark with them.

While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, to do the work to which I have called them."

But the Jews stirred up the leading men of the city and the Gentile women of high social standing who worshiped God. They started a persecution against Paul and Barnabas and threw them out of their region.

They gave Barnabas the name Zeus, and Paul the name Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

And so we have met together and have all agreed to choose some messengers and send them to you. They will go with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul,

Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the believers in every town where we preached the word of the Lord, and let us find out how they are getting along."

but Paul did not think it was right to take him, because he had not stayed with them to the end of their mission, but had turned back and left them in Pamphylia.

Or are Barnabas and I the only ones who have to work for our living?

Aristarchus, who is in prison with me, sends you greetings, and so does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have already received instructions to welcome Mark if he comes your way.)

My companion Titus, even though he is Greek, was not forced to be circumcised,

As for Titus, he is my partner and works with me to help you; as for the other brothers who are going with him, they represent the churches and bring glory to Christ.

I write to Titus, my true son in the faith that we have in common. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.
