This is now the third time that I am ready to come to visit you---and I will not make any demands on you. It is you I want, not your money. After all, children should not have to provide for their parents, but parents should provide for their children.

"Those accused of murder may be found guilty and put to death only on the evidence of two or more witnesses; the evidence of one witness is not sufficient to support an accusation of murder.

However, they may be put to death only if two or more witnesses testify against them; they are not to be put to death if there is only one witness.

"One witness is not enough to convict someone of a crime; at least two witnesses are necessary to prove that someone is guilty.

Get a couple of scoundrels to accuse him to his face of cursing God and the king. Then take him out of the city and stone him to death."

The two scoundrels publicly accused him of cursing God and the king, and so he was taken outside the city and stoned to death.

But if he will not listen to you, take one or two other persons with you, so that 'every accusation may be upheld by the testimony of two or more witnesses,' as the scripture says.

but they could not find any, even though many people came forward and told lies about him. Finally two men stepped up

and said, "This man said, 'I am able to tear down God's Temple and three days later build it back up.' "

It is written in your Law that when two witnesses agree, what they say is true.

I testify on my own behalf, and the Father who sent me also testifies on my behalf."

Anyone who disobeys the Law of Moses is put to death without any mercy when judged guilty from the evidence of two or more witnesses.

What, then, of those who despise the Son of God? who treat as a cheap thing the blood of God's covenant which purified them from sin? who insult the Spirit of grace? Just think how much worse is the punishment they will deserve!
