"Where, Death, is your victory? Where, Death, is your power to hurt?"

The Sovereign LORD will destroy death forever! He will wipe away the tears from everyone's eyes and take away the disgrace his people have suffered throughout the world. The LORD himself has spoken.

I will not save this people from the world of the dead or rescue them from the power of death. Bring on your plagues, death! Bring on your destruction, world of the dead! I will no longer have pity for this people.

They will be like angels and cannot die. They are the children of God, because they have risen from death.

but now it has been revealed to us through the coming of our Savior, Christ Jesus. He has ended the power of death and through the gospel has revealed immortal life.

Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death,

Then death and the world of the dead were thrown into the lake of fire. (This lake of fire is the second death.)

He will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, no more grief or crying or pain. The old things have disappeared."
