If I do what I don't want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it; instead, it is the sin that lives in me.

"Happy are those whose wrongs are forgiven, whose sins are pardoned!

Happy is the person whose sins the Lord will not keep account of !"

If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don't have.

Not only those things; I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere garbage, so that I may gain Christ

and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own, the kind that is gained by obeying the Law. I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is based on faith.

I know that good does not live in me---that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it.

But I see a different law at work in my body---a law that fights against the law which my mind approves of. It makes me a prisoner to the law of sin which is at work in my body.

Don't think that there is no truth in the scripture that says, "The spirit that God placed in us is filled with fierce desires."

But the grace that God gives is even stronger. As the scripture says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
