In these times sons treat their fathers like fools, daughters oppose their mothers, and young women quarrel with their mothers-in-law; your enemies are the members of your own family.

"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

your worst enemies will be the members of your own family.

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother, "This child is chosen by God for the destruction and the salvation of many in Israel. He will be a sign from God which many people will speak against

"When a strong man, with all his weapons ready, guards his own house, all his belongings are safe.

"Anyone who is not for me is really against me; anyone who does not help me gather is really scattering.

Do you suppose that I came to bring peace to the world? No, not peace, but division.

Fathers will be against their sons, and sons against their fathers; mothers will be against their daughters, and daughters against their mothers; mothers-in-law will be against their daughters-in-law, and daughters-in-law against their mothers-in-law."

So there was a division in the crowd because of Jesus.

Some of them were convinced by his words, but others would not believe.

When Barnabas and Paul heard what they were about to do, they tore their clothes and ran into the middle of the crowd, shouting,

While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul, to do the work to which I have called them."

Don't I have the right to follow the example of the other apostles and the Lord's brothers and Peter, by taking a Christian wife with me on my trips?
