Jesus answered, "It is written in your own Law that God said, 'You are gods.'

This, however, was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: 'They hated me for no reason at all.'

And so the Law was in charge of us until Christ came, in order that we might then be put right with God through faith.

Let me ask those of you who want to be subject to the Law: do you not hear what the Law says?

However, they may be put to death only if two or more witnesses testify against them; they are not to be put to death if there is only one witness.

"One witness is not enough to convict someone of a crime; at least two witnesses are necessary to prove that someone is guilty.

Get a couple of scoundrels to accuse him to his face of cursing God and the king. Then take him out of the city and stone him to death."

But if he will not listen to you, take one or two other persons with you, so that 'every accusation may be upheld by the testimony of two or more witnesses,' as the scripture says.

This is now the third time that I am coming to visit you. "Any accusation must be upheld by the evidence of two or more witnesses"---as the scripture says.

Anyone who disobeys the Law of Moses is put to death without any mercy when judged guilty from the evidence of two or more witnesses.

We believe human testimony; but God's testimony is much stronger, and he has given this testimony about his Son.

I will send my two witnesses dressed in sackcloth, and they will proclaim God's message during those 1, 260 days."
