"No," Jesus answered, "even though I do testify on my own behalf, what I say is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. You do not know where I came from or where I am going.

We know that God spoke to Moses; as for that fellow, however, we do not even know where he comes from!"

The man answered, "What a strange thing that is! You do not know where he comes from, but he cured me of my blindness!

Then the woman went and told her husband, "A man of God has come to me, and he looked as frightening as the angel of God. I didn't ask him where he came from, and he didn't tell me his name.

I am like the deaf and cannot hear, like the dumb and cannot speak.

But I trust in you, O LORD; and you, O Lord my God, will answer me.

"He was treated harshly, but endured it humbly; he never said a word. Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word.

But he said nothing in response to the accusations of the chief priests and elders.

But Jesus refused to answer a single word, with the result that the Governor was greatly surprised.

The chief priests were accusing Jesus of many things,

Again Jesus refused to say a word, and Pilate was amazed.

The passage of scripture which he was reading was this: "He was like a sheep that is taken to be slaughtered, like a lamb that makes no sound when its wool is cut off. He did not say a word.

He was humiliated, and justice was denied him. No one will be able to tell about his descendants, because his life on earth has come to an end."

Don't be afraid of your enemies; always be courageous, and this will prove to them that they will lose and that you will win, because it is God who gives you the victory.
