Jesus answered, "It is written in your own Law that God said, 'You are gods.'

This, however, was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: 'They hated me for no reason at all.'

Now we know that everything in the Law applies to those who live under the Law, in order to stop all human excuses and bring the whole world under God's judgment.

So then, as the one sin condemned all people, in the same way the one righteous act sets all people free and gives them life.

He will be the one to build a temple for me, and I will make sure that his dynasty continues forever.

May righteousness flourish in his lifetime, and may prosperity last as long as the moon gives light.

May the king's name never be forgotten; may his fame last as long as the sun. May all nations ask God to bless them as he has blessed the king.

Praise his glorious name forever! May his glory fill the whole world. Amen! Amen!

He will always have descendants, and I will watch over his kingdom as long as the sun shines.

It will be as permanent as the moon, that faithful witness in the sky."

The LORD made a solemn promise and will not take it back: "You will be a priest forever in the priestly order of Melchizedek."

His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David's successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The LORD Almighty is determined to do all this.

He was arrested and sentenced and led off to die, and no one cared about his fate. He was put to death for the sins of our people.

A king like my servant David will be their king. They will all be united under one ruler and will obey my laws faithfully.

They will live on the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where their ancestors lived. They will live there forever, and so will their children and all their descendants. A king like my servant David will rule them forever.

At the time of those rulers the God of heaven will establish a kingdom that will never end. It will never be conquered, but will completely destroy all those empires and then last forever.

He was given authority, honor, and royal power, so that the people of all nations, races, and languages would serve him. His authority would last forever, and his kingdom would never end.

The power and greatness of all the kingdoms on earth will be given to the people of the Supreme God. Their royal power will never end, and all rulers on earth will serve and obey them."

They are crippled and far from home, but I will make a new beginning with those who are left, and they will become a great nation. I will rule over them on Mount Zion from that time on and forever."

As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up,

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.

I am telling you the truth: the time is coming---the time has already come---when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear it will come to life.

And he has given the Son the right to judge, because he is the Son of Man.

Our father Abraham died; you do not claim to be greater than Abraham, do you? And the prophets also died. Who do you think you are?"

You have never known him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I obey his word.

They said to him, "You are not even fifty years old---and you have seen Abraham?"

Jesus went to the territory near the town of Caesarea Philippi, where he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was thrown into an uproar. "Who is he?" the people asked.

"What do you think about the Messiah? Whose descendant is he?" "He is David's descendant," they answered.

'The Lord said to my Lord: Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies under your feet.'
