In the same way that Jonah spent three days and nights in the big fish, so will the Son of Man spend three days and nights in the depths of the earth.

From that time on Jesus began to say plainly to his disciples, "I must go to Jerusalem and suffer much from the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. I will be put to death, but three days later I will be raised to life."

As they came down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, "Don't tell anyone about this vision you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from death."

who will kill him; but three days later he will be raised to life." The disciples became very sad.

and then hand him over to the Gentiles, who will make fun of him, whip him, and crucify him; but three days later he will be raised to life."

Then Jesus said to them, "This very night all of you will run away and leave me, for the scripture says, 'God will kill the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

But after I am raised to life, I will go to Galilee ahead of you."

and said, "Sir, we remember that while that liar was still alive he said, 'I will be raised to life three days later.'

Then Jesus began to teach his disciples: "The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the teachers of the Law. He will be put to death, but three days later he will rise to life."

He is not here; he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee:

Then the women remembered his words,

but could not find his body. They came back saying they had seen a vision of angels who told them that he is alive.

Then he said to them, "These are the very things I told you about while I was still with you: everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the writings of the prophets, and the Psalms had to come true."

Jesus answered, "Tear down this Temple, and in three days I will build it again."

"The Father loves me because I am willing to give up my life, in order that I may receive it back again.

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is not here---he has been raised! Look, here is the place where he was placed.

But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; he bent down and saw the grave cloths but nothing else. Then he went back home amazed at what had happened.

The two of them were running, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first.

Behind him came Simon Peter, and he went straight into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there

Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in; he saw and believed.
