They have been unfaithful to the LORD; their children do not belong to him. So now they and their lands will soon be destroyed.

And so I tell you that I will send you prophets and wise men and teachers; you will kill some of them, crucify others, and whip others in the synagogues and chase them from town to town.

I tell you indeed: the punishment for all these murders will fall on the people of this day!

Then that servant's master will come back one day when the servant does not expect him and at a time he does not know.

The master will cut him in pieces and make him share the fate of the hypocrites. There he will cry and gnash his teeth.

I will live among you in my sacred Tent, and I will never turn away from you.

I will destroy your places of worship on the hills, tear down your incense altars, and throw your dead bodies on your fallen idols. In utter disgust

But even then, when they are still in the land of their enemies, I will not completely abandon them or destroy them. That would put an end to my covenant with them, and I am the LORD their God.

"When the LORD saw this, he was angry and rejected his sons and daughters.

You cannot stand the sight of the proud; you hate all wicked people.

The Ephraimites, armed with bows and arrows, ran away on the day of battle.

So the LORD was angry with his people; he was disgusted with them.

My chosen people have turned against me; like a lion in the forest they have roared at me, and so I hate them.

Remember your promises and do not despise us; do not bring disgrace on Jerusalem, the place of your glorious throne. Do not break the covenant you made with us.

The LORD says, "All their evildoing began in Gilgal. It was there that I began to hate them. And because of the evil they have done, I will drive them out of my land. I will not love them any more; all their leaders have rebelled against me.

My righteous people, however, will believe and live; but if any of them turns back, I will not be pleased with them."

Israel's holy God and savior says to the one who is deeply despised, who is hated by the nations and is the servant of rulers: "Kings will see you released and will rise to show their respect; princes also will see it, and they will bow low to honor you." This will happen because the LORD has chosen his servant; the holy God of Israel keeps his promises.

I have a baptism to receive, and how distressed I am until it is over!

Now, his own people hated him, and so they sent messengers after him to say, 'We don't want this man to be our king.'

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I keep telling it that its ways are bad.

"If the world hates you, just remember that it has hated me first.

Whoever hates me hates my Father also.

This, however, was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: 'They hated me for no reason at all.'
