The judges will investigate the case thoroughly; and if you have made a false accusation,

Then everyone else will hear what happened; they will be afraid, and no one will ever again do such an evil thing.

So Haman was hanged on the gallows that he had built for Mordecai. Then the king's anger cooled down.

But Esther went to the king, and the king issued written orders with the result that Haman suffered the fate he had planned for the Jews---he and his sons were hanged from the gallows.

The righteous are protected from trouble; it comes to the wicked instead.

"Parents are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their children, and children are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their parents; people are to be put to death only for a crime they themselves have committed.

Joshua, along with all the people of Israel, seized Achan, the silver, the cloak, the bar of gold, together with Achan's sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys, and sheep, his tent, and everything else he owned; and they took them to Trouble Valley.

And Joshua said, "Why have you brought such trouble on us? The LORD will now bring trouble on you!" All the people then stoned Achan to death; they also stoned and burned his family and possessions.

However, he did not kill their children but followed what the LORD had commanded in the Law of Moses: "Parents are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their children, and children are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their parents; people are to be put to death only for a crime they themselves have committed."

Now because the king had given strict orders for the furnace to be made extremely hot, the flames burned up the guards who took the men to the furnace.

May God use their own evil to punish my enemies. He will destroy them because he is faithful.

All night I cried out with pain, As if a lion were breaking my bones. I thought that God was ending my life.
