King Zedekiah sinned against the LORD, just as King Jehoiakim had done.

The LORD became so angry with the people of Jerusalem and Judah that he banished them from his sight.

He sinned against the LORD and did not listen humbly to the prophet Jeremiah, who spoke the word of the LORD.

In addition, the leaders of Judah, the priests, and the people followed the sinful example of the nations around them in worshiping idols, and so they defiled the Temple, which the LORD himself had made holy.

But they made fun of God's messengers, ignoring his words and laughing at his prophets, until at last the LORD's anger against his people was so great that there was no escape.

If a ruler pays attention to false information, all his officials will be liars.

"You wicked, unholy ruler of Israel, your day, the day of your final punishment, is coming.

So then, whoever rejects this teaching is not rejecting a human being, but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

That message from the LORD against Baasha and his family was given by the prophet Jehu because of the sins that Baasha committed against the LORD. He aroused the LORD's anger not only because of the evil he did, just as King Jeroboam had done before him, but also because he killed all of Jeroboam's family.

If you let a fool deliver a message, you might as well cut off your own feet; you are asking for trouble.
