So Ebedmelech went with the men to the palace storeroom and got some worn-out clothing which he let down to me by ropes.

He told me to put the rags under my arms, so that the ropes wouldn't hurt me. I did this,

and they pulled me up out of the well. After that I was kept in the courtyard.

After that, Judas the Galilean appeared during the time of the census; he drew a crowd after him, but he also was killed, and all his followers were scattered.

And so in this case, I tell you, do not take any action against these men. Leave them alone! If what they have planned and done is of human origin, it will disappear,

but if it comes from God, you cannot possibly defeat them. You could find yourselves fighting against God!" The Council followed Gamaliel's advice.
Acts 23:9
The shouting became louder, and some of the teachers of the Law who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and protested strongly: "We cannot find a thing wrong with this man! Perhaps a spirit or an angel really did speak to him!"
