The LORD will give the people of Israel relief from their pain and suffering and from the hard work they were forced to do.

The LORD has ended the power of the evil rulers

Now at last the whole world enjoys rest and peace, and everyone sings for joy.

"The world of the dead is getting ready to welcome the king of Babylon. The ghosts of those who were powerful on earth are stirring about. The ghosts of kings are rising from their thrones.

You used to be honored with the music of harps, but now here you are in the world of the dead. You lie on a bed of maggots and are covered with a blanket of worms.' "

They will kill you and send you to a watery grave.

When they come to kill you, will you still claim that you are a god? When you face your murderers, you will be mortal and not at all divine.

And as for you, Capernaum! Did you want to lift yourself up to heaven? You will be thrown down to hell! If the miracles which were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would still be in existence today!

"It isn't a man speaking, but a god!" they shouted.

At once the angel of the Lord struck Herod down, because he did not give honor to God. He was eaten by worms and died.

The beast was taken prisoner, together with the false prophet who had performed miracles in his presence. (It was by those miracles that he had deceived those who had the mark of the beast and those who had worshiped the image of the beast.) The beast and the false prophet were both thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

and their graves are in the deepest parts of the world of the dead. All her soldiers fell in battle, and their graves surround her tomb. Yet once they terrified the land of the living.
