To have knowledge, you must first have reverence for the LORD. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and refuse to learn.

God said to us humans, "To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord. To understand, you must turn from evil."

The way to become wise is to honor the LORD; he gives sound judgment to all who obey his commands. He is to be praised forever.

After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.

If you do, you will know what it means to fear the LORD and you will succeed in learning about God.

I have never learned any wisdom, and I know nothing at all about God.

And to Solomon he said, "My son, I charge you to acknowledge your father's God and to serve him with an undivided heart and a willing mind. He knows all our thoughts and desires. If you go to him, he will accept you; but if you turn away from him, he will abandon you forever.

"My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God---in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.
