Follow the practices and the laws that I give you; you will save your life by doing so. I am the LORD."

They did all these disgusting things and made the land unclean, but you must not do them. All of you, whether Israelites or foreigners living with you, must keep the LORD's laws and commands,

Obey all my laws and commands. I am the LORD."

The LORD said, "Keep all my laws and commands, so that you will not be rejected by the land of Canaan, into which I am bringing you.

In such cases the community shall judge in your favor and not in favor of the dead person's relative who is seeking revenge.

These are the rules and regulations that the LORD gave the Israelites through Moses in the plains of Moab across the Jordan River from Jericho.

Moses called together all the people of Israel and said to them, "People of Israel, listen to all the laws that I am giving you today. Learn them and be sure that you obey them.

But you, Moses, stay here with me, and I will give you all my laws and commands. Teach them to the people, so that they will obey them in the land that I am giving them.'

"In times to come your children will ask you, 'Why did the LORD our God command us to obey all these laws?'

"If you obey all my laws and commands, I will do for you what I promised your father David.

Whenever your fellow citizens from any of the cities bring before you a case of homicide or any other violation of a law or commandment, you must instruct them carefully how to conduct themselves during the trial, so that they do not become guilty of sinning against the LORD. Unless you do, you and your fellow citizens will feel the force of the LORD's anger. But if you do your duty, you will not be guilty.

At Mount Sinai you came down from heaven; you spoke to your people and gave them good laws and sound teachings.

You taught them to keep your Sabbaths holy, and through your servant Moses you gave them your laws.

do hereby join with our leaders in an oath, under penalty of a curse if we break it, that we will live according to God's Law, which God gave through his servant Moses; that we will obey all that the LORD, our Lord, commands us; and that we will keep all his laws and requirements.

He gives his message to his people, his instructions and laws to Israel.

I gave them my commands and taught them my laws, which bring life to anyone who obeys them.

"Then I gave them laws that are not good and commands that do not bring life.

"Remember the teachings of my servant Moses, the laws and commands which I gave him at Mount Sinai for all the people of Israel to obey.

So Moses went down and called the leaders of the people together and told them everything that the LORD had commanded him.

Moses went and told the people all the LORD's commands and all the ordinances, and all the people answered together, "We will do everything that the LORD has said."

Moses wrote down all the LORD's commands. Early the next morning he built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stones, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel.

"I have taught you all the laws, as the LORD my God told me to do. Obey them in the land that you are about to invade and occupy.

No other nation, no matter how great, has laws so just as those that I have taught you today.

The LORD told me to teach you all the laws that you are to obey in the land that you are about to invade and occupy.

It was after they had come out of Egypt and were in the valley east of the Jordan River, opposite the town of Bethpeor, that he gave them these laws. This was in the territory that had belonged to King Sihon of the Amorites, who had ruled in the town of Heshbon. Moses and the people of Israel defeated him when they came out of Egypt.

"In times to come your children will ask you, 'Why did the LORD our God command us to obey all these laws?'

and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

Finally, our friends, you learned from us how you should live in order to please God. This is, of course, the way you have been living. And now we beg and urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to do even more.
