Rise in your anger, O LORD! Stand up against the fury of my enemies; rouse yourself and help me! Justice is what you demand,

"But now I will come," says the LORD, "because the needy are oppressed and the persecuted groan in pain. I will give them the security they long for."

Rouse yourself, O Lord, and defend me; rise up, my God, and plead my cause.

nor because of any fault of mine, O LORD, that they hurry to their places.

Rise, LORD God Almighty, and come to my aid; see for yourself, God of Israel! Wake up and punish the heathen; show no mercy to evil traitors!

At last the Lord woke up as though from sleep; he was like a strong man excited by wine.

Wake up, LORD, and help us! Use your power and save us; use it as you did in ancient times. It was you that cut the sea monster Rahab to pieces.

Jesus was in the back of the boat, sleeping with his head on a pillow. The disciples woke him up and said, "Teacher, don't you care that we are about to die?"

But now you have rejected us and let us be defeated; you no longer march out with our armies.

Why have you abandoned us like this, O God? Will you be angry with your own people forever?

Why do you reject me, LORD? Why do you turn away from me?
