O Jerusalem, wash your heart from evil so that you may be saved. How long shall your vain thoughts lodge within you?

O Jerusalem, be instructed, lest My soul depart from you; lest I make you desolate, a land not inhabited.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her, how often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

and say, If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for in this manner they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

And the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another.

Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them.

And the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.

So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of Jehovah.

Thus Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son; and as he died, he said, May Jehovah take notice, and require it!

Nevertheless they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your Law behind their backs and killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them to Yourself; and they worked great blasphemies.

In vain I have chastened your children; they received no correction. Your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

And they brought Urijah out of Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and threw his dead body into the graves of the common people.

And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty.

And again he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, beating some and killing some.

And again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.

Then the owner of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Perhaps they will respect him when they see him.

You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always oppose the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they, who received the Law by the command of angels and did not keep it, killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One,

who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have driven us out; and they do not please God and are contrary to all men,

And when they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.

And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.

And Jehovah the God of their fathers sent to them by the hand of His messengers, rising early to send them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.

But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, to make the wrath of Jehovah swell up against His people, till there was no healing.

Hear, O My people, and I will testify to you! O Israel, if you will listen to Me:

I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Thus says Jehovah, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is, and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it.

Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Listen to the sound of the shofar. But they said, We will not listen.

For I admonished and testified to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, until this day, rising early and exhorting, saying, Obey My voice.

Yet they did not obey nor extend their ear, but walked each one in the stubbornness of his evil heart. Therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did not do them.

From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even to this day, which is the twenty-third year, the Word of Jehovah has come unto me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you have not listened.

They said, Turn back now, each one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that Jehovah has given to you and to your fathers forever and ever.

Yet you have not listened to Me, says Jehovah, so that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands, to your own hurt.

I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Turn back now each man from his evil way, and do good, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers. But you have not extended your ear, nor heeded Me.

and said to them, Thus says Jehovah the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before Him:

Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Do not be afraid of him, says Jehovah; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you from his hand.

But if you say, We will not dwell in this land, nor obey the voice of Jehovah your God,

But I sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not do this abominable thing which I hate!

Do not be as your fathers, to whom the former prophets have proclaimed, saying, Thus says Jehovah of Hosts: Turn back now from your evil ways and your evil doings. But they did not hear nor heed Me, says Jehovah.

As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings,

so Jehovah alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him.

May Jehovah reward your work, and full wages be given you by Jehovah the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.

Keep me as the pupil of the eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings,

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the sons of men take refuge under the shadow of Your wings.

Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast; and they were not willing to come.

Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one pays attention,

I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your terror comes;

Then they shall call upon me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me.

They did not desire my counsel; they despised all my reproof.

Why, when I came, was no one here? I called and no one answered. Is My hand shortened at all so that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; their fish stink, because there is no water, and die of thirst.

As they called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to graven images.

And My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, no one at all exalts Him.

and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, Come, for all things are now ready.

And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.

But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.

But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, We do not desire to have this man reign over us.

Then came the first, saying, Master, your mina has earned ten minas.

And the second came, saying, Master, your mina has earned five minas.

Then another came, saying, Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief.

And he said to him, Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was a harsh man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow.

And he said to those who stood by, Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.

For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

saying, Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.

So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them.

And they said, The Lord has need of him.

And as He went, they spread their clothes on the road.

saying: Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in Heaven and glory in the highest!

But He answered and said to them, I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.

saying, If you had known, even you, at least in this your day, the things that make for your peace. But now they are hidden from your eyes.

and tear you down, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.
